CommProve Netledge 3G Radio QoS wins Best Network Quality Initiative award at 3GSM

Judges' reaction: “An initiative that tackles the 3G network quality issue head-on – an area that operators must address”

3GSM World Congress, Barcelona, Wednesday 14th February: CommProve, the world-leading provider of mobile network radio Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring, has won the GSM Association Global Mobile Award for Best Network Quality Initiative.

The Award, for CommProve’s Netledge™ 3G Radio QoS, was announced at the 3GSM World Congress Technology Symposium in Barcelona. Netledge was the choice of the international panel of experts whose judgement was based on demanding criteria that included the ability of the solution to enhance the service quality of the network, and the level of capacity and efficiency gains.

Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association, said: “Achieving success in the global mobile industry requires a combination of innovation, expertise, tenacity and confidence - but the key ingredient is a knowledge of what the market needs to move forward the new mobile era. The 2007 winners are recognised as having turned that knowledge into practical services and solutions that capture mobile users' needs. My congratulations on behalf of the GSMA - we wish you every continued success.”

Netledge is the only permanent, network-wide monitoring system for 3G radio networks. It attacks coverage gaps, dropped calls, low data rates and inadequate voice quality: all symptoms of poor radio network performance. These problems directly cause customer dissatisfaction, reduced service usage and lost revenue.

Enrico Andreini, founder and CTO, CommProve, said: “We are delighted that the 3G network quality enhancements our Netledge solution delivers to network operators have been recognized. W-CDMA is the most complex radio technology ever deployed for mass mobile communication, and 2G/3G handovers and HSDPA further increase the complexity. Traditional quality management methods, like drive testing and network element statistical counters, are inadequate.

“Netledge makes every network user a “drive tester”. All active handsets generate radio quality measurements, and Netledge captures and analyses these measurements to provide the most comprehensive service quality reports available, leading to better configuration decisions and improved network performance.”

CommProve and Netledge can been seen at the 3GSM World Congress in Hall 1, Stand H39.

CommProve helps operators keep their VIPs

Netledge™ measures the quality of experience for key customer groups to prove SLAs and reduce churn amongst key subscribers

Dublin, 7th February 2007 – CommProve, the world-leading provider of mobile network radio Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring, today announced an enhancement of Netledge to monitor high-value user groups. Netledge VIP QoS™ tracks radio QoS for selected users, and groups of users, in near real-time, enabling operators to immediately see whether their most valuable subscribers receive the experience they demand.

Netledge already provides the most detailed performance information available on the quality of the Radio Access Network (RAN) for 2G and 3G networks. Now, by displaying radio QoS data relating to specific groups of users, network engineers and Key Account Managers can work together to make sure corporate accounts and high value subscribers are always satisfied with the service they receive. This enhancement to the RAN OSS simplifies and speeds up the identification of coverage and configuration problems causing customer dissatisfaction and potentially revenue loss from high spending subscribers.

Netledge Radio QoS systems capture performance data directly from the signalling used to set up and maintain calls and data services by every user, network-wide, 24 hours a day, creating ‘drive test’ data from every call. The new VIP QoS product addresses the challenge of how to relate this to the experience of selected high-ARPU users, for example a corporate client. Netledge VIP QoS allows the Key Account Managers responsible for corporate customers to agree a Service Level Agreement (SLA), monitor trends in KPIs such as drops and quality, and to be alerted if those trends approach the SLA limits. The operator then has the opportunity to take corrective action before the SLA is broken. This concrete visibility of every VIP customers’ experience allows the operator to proactively improve customer satisfaction, reduce customer complaints and improve revenue. Furthermore, since Netledge provides detailed and easy to read information, more VIP customers can be individually managed with no increase in resources, which has a positive effect on operational expenditure.

“For the first time, operators can instantly see how the behaviour of the radio access network affects groups of high-revenue customers.” stated Robin Wheeler, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at CommProve. “Planning and optimisation departments can be overwhelmed by the volume of data they receive. With the VIP QoS, a clear picture of the customers’ experience is presented in a way that requires almost no analysis.”

Wheeler continued: “Situations that might otherwise have led to customer complaints and ultimately the loss of high value customers, can now be observed and diagnosed in moments. It takes account management of key accounts to a whole new level.”
