BCN RAN Insight collects and processes measurements from different RAN interfaces including Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) measurements and RAN quality measurements, all in real-time, network wide, 24×7.

DPI measurements provide information concerning application and network level delays, retransmissions, peak and average throughput, application type breakdown, both at user level and at cell level granularity, which is essential to understanding if, how and where the load generated by a user is affecting network availability and QoE for other users.

BCN RAN’s correlated data provides MNO Policy Managers with all the real-time information needed to make Policy Control decisions based not only on the user data consumption information but most notably, on how the user data consumption is affecting network resources.

This way BCN RAN effectively closes the Policy Control loop in as much as it brings into the picture real-time QoE and location information (including information about which other subscribers are sharing the same network resources) and consequently enables Policy Control solutions to manage QoS and QoE in real-time, per subscriber, perform real-time and service differentiated charging, offer location based services as well as to effectively increase available network resources, again in real-time, through subscriber differentiated control mechanisms.
